About EP The Brown University Entrepreneurship Program (EP) was founded in January 1998 by David Cohen and Evan Geller. These Brunonians wanted to provide students with an enriching entrepreneurial education and nurture the entrepreneurial spirit already alive at Brown, by harnessing the expertise of our alumni and faculty communities. EP is a student-run organization that acts as the extra-curricular side to entrepreneurial learning. EP provides students with lectures and panels from some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country, access to our database of 900 entrepreneurs, one-on-one mentors, software for creating business plans, and Elevator Pitch and Business Plan Competitions for students interested in making their idea become reality. EP works closely with the more academic side of entrepreneurship, Commerce, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship (COE), to give students breadth and depth to the subject. Faculty within numerous departments, especially COE, Sociology, Engineering, and Economics, provide guidance and academic support. EP's Advisory Board of Brown entrepreneurs supports the program's vitality and longevity. We are funded primarily by alumni contributions, and corporate sponsors. While the interests of Brown undergraduates run the gamut from art to computer science to international relations, they all share a determination to succeed. They are intelligent, energetic, creative, and flexible, which along with their sense of urgency and vigor, are qualities often found in great entrepreneurs. Not surprisingly, Brown is known for graduating many of the best entrepreneurial minds in the country. Such remarkable enterprises as CNN, Turner Broadcasting, Nantucket Nectars, CDNow and Motley Fool all sprang from the minds of once-eager Brown undergraduates. We do not have to look far to see the impact student entrepreneurs have made at Brown. WBRU, BUTV and the New Curriculum are all icons of Brown-born entrepreneurship. |
